Time for #3

As the last few days of the Virtuoso giveaway on The StoryGraph pass by (6k entries so far!), and Descant is getting some interest (slow but steady), I’m turning my thoughts to Resonance, book three of the Drazoen Heralds.

This will be my first non-linear story. I’ve always intended the stories to twist around one another in non-traditional ways. So, while parts of Resonance happen after Descant, the majority will take place before or concurrent with Virtuoso/Descant. I’ll be working with existing dialogue and scenes in some places, but sharing it from a totally different POV. The big effort goes into providing background and context for a character readers have met once or twice but don’t know a lot about.

The other MC is brand new, which is both easier and more challenging. Not to mention this is the first book where both MCs are non-Human. I’m hoping I can ease readers into unique cultures and biology in ways that aren’t fetishistic, but honest and compelling.

Tomorrow is earmarked for my initial outline and character deep dives - I’ve done a lot of work already, but attaching the pieces to the frame puts me in the right place to start writing. I have a 5k word goal for January, so let’s see what happens!
